The Tabletop Mini Games of Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar’s most popular releases. Set in the Wild West, its combination of narrative and graphical beauty has made it a classic. As well as the side quests, one of its main draws is the four tabletop mini-games that can be found in the title. We discuss where to find them in the article below.

Dominoes

According to the Museum of Play, Dominoes is quite an old game dating back to China in the 1300s. It uses tiles that have two sets of different number dots at each end. The goal is to get rid of all your tiles before your opponents by matching them to others with the same number of dots. The player with the highest pair goes first. Opponents then take turns to lay matching dominoes end to end. Anyone who can not play takes a domino and adds it to their pile.

Dominoes can be played at the park in St Denis, Blackwater, or Emerald Ranch. It can be played sporadically at your gang’s camp.

Poker and Blackjack

Poker and blackjack are the real-life casino games available in Red Dead. Poker is probably the one most people are familiar with, as it follows the rules of Texas Hold’Em. If you are a fan of poker and take an interest in the bigger events like those on the WSOP 2025 schedule, then you may already have some tactics and strategies. While the WSOP main event has buy-ins that range from $300 to $250,000, poker in Red Dead has a buy-in of up to $25, giving you a chance to win in game cash.

Blackjack also follows the same rules you would find in an online casino. However, it is the basic format of the game and does not have any side rules sometimes on offer there. You are dealt two cards, and you must get as close to 21 without going over. Choosing to hit brings you an extra card, but if the dealer is closer to 21 then they win.

Poker can be played in the Saint-Denis Saloon and various other locations, as well as intermittently at your gang’s camp. Blackjack is harder to find, and you will need to travel to the saloon in Rhodes, Blackwater, or Van Horn.

Five Finger Fillet

With Five Finger Fillet, Rockstar Games have added something that really differs from the other tabletop games. It is more a test of reactions and dexterity than skill. You must hit the space in between your fingers, completing as many laps at speed as you possibly can. For the player, this involves following the buttons on the screen to ensure you do this correctly. Playing against an opponent, you must win two out of three rounds to take the pot. This IGN guide provides some helpful and handy hints on how to win.

You can find the game in Strawberry, Valentine, and Van North. It is also available at your gang camp in certain parts of the game.

Manage to try all the games, and you will unlock the ‘Hobby Horse’ trophy. You do have to make a trek to play some, but once you are there you will find them really enjoyable and a welcome addition to the main title.
